The goal of the administration division is to provide the police department with the equipment and support necessary to achieve the goals of the department. Everything from obtaining and maintaining police equipment to supplying forms and communications is the responsibility of the Administration Division.
The Chief’s Office
The Chief, the Assistant Chief, the Office Manager, an Administration Specialist and a Receptionist staff the Chief’s Office.
The Chief of Police is responsible for planning, directing and controlling all functions of the police department. The chief is the primary authority of the department and is the final word on policy and procedures. He also manages the budget, expenditures, building services and payroll with the assistance of his staff
The Assistant Chief of Police is the Operations Commander and oversees the day-to-day operations of the department.

Records
The records section is responsible for archiving and storage of police records for the department and the public. The records section is the information link between the Police Department and outside agencies, as well as the public we serve.
Four records clerks and a supervisor staff the records section. The records room is open from 0800 hrs until 1700 hrs Monday through Friday for the public to receive reports on accidents and incidents reported to the Police Department.

E-911 Communications
The communications section is responsible for officer safety and receiving calls for service from the community. The communication section is staffed 24 hours a day with 9 full-time dispatchers and a supervisor. The communications section utilizes technical equipment to communicate by phone, radio, and computer concerning matters of police, fire or other emergencies. The section is equipped with Enhanced 911 services and equipment to help serve the community with efficient and professional service.

Special Services
Special Services are units that support the other divisions of the police department with special services that further the goals of the department. They include the following units:
Training and Personnel
The training and personnel unit is responsible for recruiting and hiring new personnel for the department and also for the ongoing training for all personnel. This unit is responsible for maintaining certifications in the various disciplines of the police science. Police Officer Certifications, Radar Certification, Firearms certifications, and any other certifications required to maintain a professional police force is scheduled and managed by this unit.
The Phenix City Police Department maintains Standards over and above the minimum standards established by the Alabama Police Officers Training Commission (A.P.O.S.T.)

Fugitive Unit
The Fugitive Unit is responsible for overseeing police relations with Municipal Court and for serving warrants issued by that Court. This unit works closely with both Patrol Division and the Criminal Investigation Division to apprehend individuals who are wanted for crimes committed against the citizens of Phenix City and the State of Alabama.

Property and Evidence
Property and Evidence is responsible for the collection and storage all evidence submitted by all divisions of the police department. This unit is the liaison between the police department and the state crime lab. This unit also disposes of surplus equipment and unclaimed property. This unit is an internal service unit for the department only.
Maintenance and Procurement
The Maintenance and Procurement unit is responsible for securing equipment and maintaining that equipment for the Police Department. This unit maintains a fleet of 44 police service vehicles and all the accompanying equipment such as radios, uniforms, firearms, and even ammunition needed to provide the citizens of Phenix City with a professional and capable police force. This unit is an internal service unit for the department only. |
