  • General Contractor must have State of Alabama General Contractor License
  • Must have City of Phenix City Business License (334) 448-2730
  • Four complete sets of plans with an Alabama architect stamp
  • Three complete sets of sprinkler plans bearing the permit number of the Certified Fire Protection Sprinkler Contractor
  • Three complete sets of Fire Alarm drawings bearing the Seal of a Professional Engineer licensed in the State of Alabama or be submitted by a Certified Fire Alarm Contractor
  • Alabama architect or land surveyor stamped site plan
  • Building permit application

  • Residential driveway permit application if in the city limits, if in the Police Jurisdiction you must attain one from the Russell County Engineer Department (334)297-7484
  • If building in Police Jurisdiction, must have septic tank approval from the Health Department (334)297-0251
  • If homeowner is acting as general contractor, must sign a Sworn Statement in accordance with the Alabama Homebuilders Licensure law, Ala. Code 34-14A-1, et seq. (1975) (amended 2002)

  • Need to have a current State HVAC License
  • Must have a City of Phenix City Business License (334) 448-2730
  • Please include the value amount of job on the application
  1. Certificate of Occupancy
  • Commercial structures must meet the approval of the City of Phenix City Fire Marshall
  • Must meet approval of a Code Enforcement Officer
  • For newly constructed building, must pass final inspection
  • Businesses located out of a home, must show proof of ownership of the home or attain a notarized statement from the landlord or property manager acknowledging the business is located on said property. Business owner will need Home Occupation Statement.
  • Home Occupation businesses will receive a copy of the Zoning Ordinance pertaining to Home Occupation.
  1. Swimming Pools - Application
  • Must have State of Alabama License to install swimming pools
  • Must have a City of Phenix City Business License (334) 448-2730
  • Need a site plan showing pool ten feet from any structure
  • Must have fence
  1. Demolition - Application
    • Must have a City of Phenix City Business License (334) 448-2730
  1. Signs - Application
  • Must have a City of Phenix City Business License (334) 448-2730
  • Alabama architect or land surveyor stamped site plan
  • Two complete sets of plans with an Alabama architect stamp (one will be returned, one kept on file in the Building Department)
  • Provide the UL Approved number(s) for lighted signs
  1. House Moving - Application
    • Must have a City of Phenix City Business License (334) 448-2730
